Golfers celebrated the return of Meru Valley Resort’s monthly medal with 83 players competing for the medal in the 18-hole bogey play format, on Sunday, 13 September.
Moh Wai Kit emerged as winner of the ‘A category’ on countback of lower handicap, edging Winson Chin with the overall score of +1. Meanwhile Siew Cheng Fatt finished second runner up by scoring 0 on even par.
17 handicapper Chen Chee Kiong returned with the score of +2 to win the ‘B category’. The runner up spot had to be determined by countback on lower handicap with Ching Mun Loong (14) edging Radzwan (18) for runner up spot. Both posted identical score of +1.
24 handicapper Tan Kok Foong played a solid round of +5 to clinch the ‘C category’, easily defeating his nearest challenger Allan Ong, 19 handicapper who played score of +1, also winning on countback against 24 handicapper, Chai Chor Wai, posted identical score of +1.
Selina Sim, was crowned as the winner for the ladies’ medal with the score of -3, after defeating four other competing players in the same category. Meanwhile Ladao Rosalie Daguplo and Choo Yik Kwan took the second and third position with the score -5 and -6 each.
The event teed off without a hitch and followed social distancing protocols with the following rules: scores were uploaded digitally, players were a minimum distance of 1 metre apart (especially on the greens), flags always remained in the hole and no rakes were in or around bunkers.
